Website redesign
Website redesign for clinics, salons and practices. Without losing what already works
Redesigns usually go wrong in one of two ways. The new site looks better and brings in less, or the Google rankings the old one had quietly disappear. A redesign should protect both, and it should cost you about an hour of your time, not a month of it.
The short answer
£297a month
- £297 to start, no website build fee
- Your old site stays up until launch
- Old addresses redirected, so rankings follow
- Live in about 14 days, no minimum term
Hosting, changes and support are included. You are renting a working website, which is how there is no build fee.
Thirty minutes, no pitch.
Before anything else
Do you actually need a redesign?
Sometimes the honest answer is no. If the site already brings in enquiries and they go unanswered, a new design will not fix that. Follow-up will. These are the signs that the site itself is the problem.
-
It is hard to use on a phone
Most people find a clinic or salon on their phone. If they have to pinch and zoom to find your prices or your number, they go back to Google and pick the next one.
-
It describes the business you were
Old treatments, old prices, a team member who left two years ago. Nobody updated it because nobody could, or because it cost money every time.
-
Nobody can change it
The person who built it has moved on, the login is lost, or every small change is a quote and a week's wait.
-
It is slow
A page that takes several seconds to appear on a phone loses people before they read a word of it.
-
You are not sure who controls the domain
If the address is registered to your old web designer rather than to you, sort that out first. It matters more than the design.
-
It does not say what you do in the first screen
Somebody landing on it should know within a few seconds what you offer, where you are and how to book.
Website redesign and SEO
How a redesign keeps your Google rankings.
-
List every address the old site has
From the sitemap and from Google Search Console, including the pages nobody remembers making. The forgotten ones often have the links.
-
Match each one to its new page
Every old address that gets visits or links is sent to its closest match on the new site with a permanent (301) redirect, so the ranking follows it.
-
No dead ends, no chains
No redirect is allowed to point at a page that no longer exists, or to hop through two redirects to get there. The build checks every redirect before the site goes live.
-
Keep what already ranks
Pages that bring in visits keep the words people searched for, in the title and the headings, rather than being rewritten for the sake of it.
Expect a wobble for a fortnight while Google recrawls the new pages, and then it settles. I will not promise you rankings, and you should be wary of anybody who does.
What it costs, and how long
No build fee, and about fourteen days.
The usual way to pay for a redesign is a build fee of two to three thousand pounds before anything exists. Mine is one monthly price with no build fee, and the old site keeps working until the new one replaces it.
-
A 30-minute call
You tell me what you do and where the work comes from. I tell you whether a redesign would make a difference, and say so if it would not.
-
About an hour from you
Photographs, your treatment list with prices, and your domain login. That is the only part I need you for.
-
About fourteen days, then launch
I build it and carry the old addresses over. We switch the domain on a short launch call, and the redirects go live at the same moment.
The steps in full are on how it works. What a website should cost in the first place, from anybody, is on what a website costs. And the sites I have built are on the work page.
Questions
What people ask before a redesign.
How much does it cost to redesign a website?
From an agency or freelancer in the UK, usually a build fee of two to three thousand pounds up front, with hosting and changes billed separately. With me it is £297 a month: the first month to start and no website build fee, with hosting, changes and support included.
How long does a website redesign take?
About fourteen days from when you send the photographs, treatments and prices. That part takes about an hour of your time. The clock starts when the material arrives, not when we speak.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I redesign my website?
Not if the old addresses are carried over properly. Any address you already rank for gets redirected to its match on the new site, so the ranking follows it. There is usually a wobble for a fortnight while Google recrawls, and then it settles. Anyone who promises you no movement at all has not done many of these.
Does my old website go offline while you work?
No. Yours stays up until the new one is ready. We switch the domain over on the launch call, so there is no window where you have nothing.
How often should a website be redesigned?
There is no fixed number of years. Redesign when it stops doing its job: when it is hard to use on a phone, out of date, or nobody can change it. A site that is kept up to date month by month rarely needs a full redesign at all, which is the point of having somebody run it.
Can ChatGPT or another AI tool redesign my website?
AI tools can produce a page that looks fine in minutes. The parts that decide whether a redesign works are the ones they skip: carrying your old addresses over, writing within the advertising rules for your treatments, and somebody keeping it running afterwards.
Do I own the redesigned website?
You are renting a working website: I host it, and if you stop paying it stops serving. After three months you can buy the code outright for £1,000 and it will run anywhere. Your domain, content, photographs and reviews are yours from day one.
Do I have to change my booking system?
No. If you run Pabau, Fresha, Cliniko, Dentally or anything else, keep it. The new site sends people to it. I work before the diary, not inside it.
Thirty minutes, and you'll know if it's worth it.
You tell me what you do and where the work comes from now. I'll tell you straight if this isn't a fit. It's a call with me, not a sales team.
Thirty minutes, no pitch. £297 a month if you go ahead, no website build fee, no minimum term.
